Laying the decking has progressed and is now near completion. The light grey green deck boards - unstained as of yet - will turn a light tan brown, thereafter fading as does all outdoor timbers - to a light grey - unless stained with decking oil.
Nearly done with the basic deck. The slightly untidy edges will have a bordering frame of 38x19mm treated roofing battens to give a better finish to the edges.
Enough bits left over to make a small three-legged pottering bench come seat.
The single leg is positioned at the rear to ensure a stable platform or seat.
Little bit of tidying to finish..
Job Done - other than the beading edge,
but still enough to warrant a glass of red wine!
Rain water was able to percolate down through the gaps in the deck boards and then into the normal drainage passage which was already in-situ.
Always avoid a 'water trough' under this type of deck. It will not be able to evaporate so quickly and could become stagnant with the attendant smell.
